Intro

While taking an architectural structures class, I suddenly became curious about real-world structures which are hard to calculate their load-bearing capacity. That's when I thought of bird nests, which maintain a relatively stable form by just stacking some twigs. Could I simulate a bird's nest using the physics engine in 3D software? If we simplify the elements that make up a nest, what properties should they have, and what shape should they be? Before transferring the nest to the 3D software, I decided to make some simple physical models to get some inspiration. I used noodles as the material, as they are cheap and easy to get, and conducted experiments by scattering the noodles on empty floors and on the architectural models I had previously made.
